You will advise organisations facing complex legal, regulatory and reputational challenges, helping them communicate with judgement, discipline and credibility. This may include active litigation, regulatory investigations, class actions, employment disputes, corporate governance issues, competition matters, inquiries, enforcement action, activist pressure or matters where legal process and public scrutiny intersect.

You will need to be comfortable working alongside legal teams, senior executives and communications leaders, translating complex legal issues into clear communications strategy while respecting legal constraints. The role is not only about managing media interest. It is about understanding how legal issues are judged by multiple audiences, how narratives develop, where reputational risk sits, and what clients should say, do and avoid under pressure.

The role involves occasional out of hours work during live issues and fast-moving situations.

Serves as a deputy to the Senior Vice President in growing Edelman Smithfield Japan’s financial portfolio. The Associate Director plays a senior client-facing role, leading complex financial communications programs. This position combines strategic advisory work with team leadership, media engagement, and business development support and includes contributing to Edleman Japan’s Corporate Accounts. The Associate Director is expected to act as a trusted counselor to senior client executives while ensuring high-quality execution across accounts.

Account Supervisor plays a client-facing role, supporting complex financial communications programs and contributing Edelman Japan’s Corporate Accounts. This position combines strategic advisory work with team leadership, media engagement, and business development support. The Account Supervisor is expected to act as a trusted counselor to senior client executives while ensuring high-quality execution across accounts.

Edelman Smithfield’s Analyst Program provides college graduates the opportunity to launch their careers in financial communications at the largest communications agency in the world. Our full-time, 15-month-long program is designed to develop the next generation of financial communications leaders. Analysts will work alongside global companies and financial services brands – including some of the world’s pre-eminent financial services firms and Fortune 500 companies – and develop media relations, research and writing skills while learning the intricacies of financial services, deal work, special situations, investor relations, and digital financial communications. 

Following the successful completion of the program, Analysts will have the opportunity to be promoted into the Account Executive role to continue their career at Edelman Smithfield.
